    People Powered Money

Speaking as one of the founders of Glasgow Pound Working Group, at the launch of the People Powered Money: Building a community currency for Glasgow event, Harrison explains how her interest in community currencies emerged from the Say No to Tesco campaign in 2013, showing how they can be a powerful tool for radically re-thinking Glasgow’s economy and building a more equal, connected and sustainable city. Say No to Tesco

In 2013, Harrison led the Say No to Tesco campaign, which began as a protest against the proliferation of small supermarkets in Glasgow and concluded in the group presenting a petition to the Scottish Parliament in 2014. Some of the campaign’s concerns were considered in the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill later in 2014, and in 2016, as part of The Glasgow Effect, Harrison helped found Glasgow Pound Working Group to explore possibilities for using a community currency to actively support Glasgow’s small businesses and build a stronger local economy.

Terrific book. Very readable and so interesting. All your answers to why things (often not great) happen in Glasgow.

If you care about Glasgow read this book.

I finally finished it! An online comprehensive Bibliography for the Book. I hope it's useful: glasgoweffect.ellieharrison.com/bibliography/
