Hello, Here's news of a few exciting projects I'm working on this autumn! Firstly, there's The Other Forecast, a new collaboration with my pal John O'Shea, which launches at MediaCity in Salford Quays on 26 October (see full details below and follow us on YouTube and Twitter for all the action as it happens). Then a few days later, I'm back for Invisible Dust's conference at Manchester University on 30 October, where I'm presenting a new piece with the working title of 'Anti-Capitalist Aerobics'. It's the 'revolutionary new exercise programme' and not to be missed. Then finally, not one to rest on my laurels, I thought I'd start a new campaign! Buoyed by the growing success of Bring Back British Rail, which saw me speaking alongside my hero Caroline Lucas at last month's Green Party conference, we're now taking on the Energy Industry with Power For the People. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the updates when the campaign launches before Christmas. Please read on for further info and I hope to see you here or there. Best wishes, Ellie The Other ForecastThe Other Forecast is a new project by artists Ellie Harrison and John O'Shea made in response to the MediaCityUK site at Salford Quays (home to the new BBC and ITV studios). Seven artists - Jesse Darling, Richard DeDomenici, Ellie Harrison, Shona MacNaughton, Kim Noble, John O'Shea and Yuri Pattison - have each been invited to MediaCityUK to create their own take on the familiar 'weather forecast'. In front of a greenscreen, they will each explain to camera the interconnectedness of a variety of local and global systems - not just meteorological, but social, political or financial - presenting a different 'worldview' from their own personal perspective. Each of the short films resulting from The Other Forecast will be premiered at a special launch event hosted by Ellie Harrison and John O'Shea at the University of Salford's Digital Performance Lab on Saturday 26th October at 4pm. They will then be broadcast on the Big Screen at MediaCityUK in early November and released to a global audience on the project's YouTube channel. Please follow the project on Twitter for all the updates.
