Hello art chums,

It's been a while since you heard from me I think... Following a busy year to-and-froing about the country, in 2012 my plan was to stay put and to attempt to integrate myself into life in my lovely adopted home of Glasgow.

I started by taking up some hobbies - amateur radio broadcasting from my flat and training to play the all-female, full-contact sport of Roller Derby, to name but a few. But, in typical Ellie Harrison style, these 'leisure activities' soon became central elements of my work...

This Thursday 14th June, I'm very pleased to invite you to the launch of the National Museum of Roller Derby - the new 'outreach' initiative I have developed for Glasgow Women's Library as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations (more info below).

Then, this Friday (and every other Friday for the rest of the year!), I'd like to invite you to tune in to the Ellie & Oliver Show - the half-hour radio programme I've been co-hosting with my friend and flatmate Oliver Braid since January (more info below).

This summer we're very excited to be taking the Ellie & Oliver Show on the road and will be broadcasting LIVE from the Edinburgh Art Festival Pavilion each Friday in August. If you're going to be in town, please stop by and say hello!

I hope you're enjoying the beginnings of the summer and not working too hard ;)

Glasgow Women's Library

National Museum of Roller Derby

Launch Event:
Thursday 14th June 2012
17:30 - 19:30

The National Museum of Roller Derby is a new project by artist Ellie Harrison resulting from her residency at the Glasgow Women's Library during its 20th Anniversary year. The NMRD aims to bring a whole new, strong and revolutionary young audience to the library, by using it as a home for the UK's first official archive of the new and exciting grassroots sport of Women's Flat Track Roller Derby.

This launch event is an opportunity to hear Ellie speak about the ideas behind the project, to meet some of the Glasgow Roller Derby team, as we welcome the first of many donations of ephemera, merchandise and memorabilia which will form the foundations of the NMRD's collection.

Ellie & Oliver Show

Every Friday in 2012
12:00 - 12:30

Every Friday lunchtime in 2012 artists, friends and flatmates Ellie Harrison & Oliver Braid are joining forces to co-host a regular half-an-hour slot on Culture Lab Radio. Broadcast LIVE from their lounge in the West End of Glasgow, the Ellie & Oliver Show aims to explore the philosophies that surround and inform their everyday lives and is set to an eclectic soundtrack that reflects their unique weekly topic: universal themes such as 'identities', 'obsessions' or 'routines'.
