Dates: 1 January - 31 December 2003
Duration: 1 year
Data Collected: During the
Daily Quantification Records project, I also recorded the exact date and time of each sneeze I did in 2003. I used the notes section on the reverse of each DQR to record them.
Objectives: I was monitoring so much by this point that it hardly seemed to make any difference to make a note of my sneezes as well. I was at first interested in pinpointing and studying just when these sometimes random, sometimes responsive events occurred in my life and to see if there were any seasonal or other variations in output.
Outcomes:
I sneezed 318 times over the course of the year. In 2004 I visualised this data in a room-sized gallery installation. I converted the gallery walls into a giant two-way timeline, which went from left to right from January to December and up and down from 00:00 to 23:59. I was then able to position each sneeze (represented by a mini colour-coded print) exactly at the point corresponding to the date and time it occurred.
