Dates: 1 January - 31 December 2003

Duration: 1 year

Data Collected: I recorded data about 14 elements of my daily life and bodily state each day for a year, such as the distance travelled on foot, my weight, body-fat percentage and the no. people spoken to, website hits, SMS received, pages of book read, gaseous emissions, swear words, spots and alcoholic beverages consumed. Some of the measurements were taken using devices such as a body-fat monitor / scale and a pedometer which I wore the whole time. Readings were noted on special A5 record sheets and then transferred into an Excel spreadsheet.

Objectives: I was only part way through Gold Card Adventures when I began this project as well. Being quite sure by now that I could maintain any crackpot project that I decided upon, I deliberately set out to collect as much data as possible. I planned to experiment with different ways of transforming and visualising this information. I was again also interested to find out what the totals were for each of the categories at the end of the year.

Outcomes: The data was compiled to give a set of monthly averages. I processed these through a series of scales and systems to output the specifications for monthly sculptures. I made six sculptures for January - June. I also visualised elements of the data in two further installations Sneezes 2003and Statistics Are Hot Air.
